A very interesting lecture (moderate quality audio) of Manly Hall discussing the book "Chariots of the Gods? by Erich von Daniken, which had recently been published. His take on this is similar to his perspective on the UFO and flying saucer phenomena or the 1950's - namely, that while space people may have visited the earth at some point, there are other possible explanations.
Ultimately, he wants to steer away from outside, external forces and instead, focus on our internal resources which may be even more amazing. This is a constant theme of his books and lectures throughout his career - the humankind alone has the power to save itself from itself.
