In many of Manly Hall's lectures, he compares an contrasts Eastern and Western philosophical and spiritual thought, particularly the way each approaches life and living. In 1958, there was a growing interest in Zen and other Eastern disciplines (along with the popularity of Alan Watts), and Mr. Hall provides a way to understand and apply these principles for a contemporary Westerner.
