The Medicine Buddha Hall refers to is known as Yakushi Nyorai. As with early Christians, many peoples around the world have believed that much of the root cause of sickness lies in the breaking of, or turning away from, universal or spiritual laws. By extension, many healing sects and cults have prescribed spiritual solutions to these problems, including the practices of meditation, contemplation and relaxation.
Almost 60 years later, the points Mr. Hall makes are just as relevant today.
